Whose Point Of View?
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Pardon me, I've been trying to write for the past few minutes but I got caught up with sneezing...bless me

Now, during watching some movies or TV shows, do you ever wonder whose point of view do they show?

who sets the age group to which this show is suitable? Depending on what? And how far do they affect us?

Take any movie as an example, there's a writer, a producer, a director and a whole staff of actors. Which of them decides what to show?

The writer who spends a lot of time writing the script, usually attempting to sho his own point of view?

The producer who pays a whole lot of money to put that script into an action?

The director who's there at every single step to shape it fairly for the screen?

Or the actors actresses who execute these scripts?

I mean, who?? Maybe I do think too much, but some movies just makes u stop and think about this

Making a movie is a kind of process and the outcome is an accumulation and a mixture of everyone's "point of view" as you call it.
First, the scriptwriter lays down the main idea of the movie. They have of course their own vision of how it should be conveyed. However, they must leave space for the director's own vision, that should enhance the movie's main goals. When actors start taking up roles, they also tend to build their own visions about it. And if an actor at some point feels that something should be different - than what the director is suggesting that is - they may share their opinion, which is very valid, especially because actors are the closest people to the movie's character, they understand their motivations, their personalities and may therefore suggest a different treatment.
Producers are as you said mainly concerned with the financial aspect of the production. Most of them are not qualified, and mostly not even interested, to make an input. But if they do, they will be listened to as well.
In a good production house, everyone included has the right to voice their opinions, but the final decision is the director's.

So, long story short..I think a lot of the movies, and the points of view they include, are collaborative work, and not a one man show.

Phew.
That was long. Sorry for that. =)
